This
is a case of good medicine and two theraputic buddies helping a rat,
who by all intense purposes, who should have passed within six months
of his birth, helping him reach the amazing age of 2 years, 6 months
old.
Bubba and his three brothers were rescued from a terrible
snake situation - all four had bad respiratory problems and ringworm
(which of course they passed onto me). Little Pip didn't make it a
month. The other two brothers, Schmidty and Fredo lasted a lot longer.
Schmidty made it a year and a half which was a miracle itself. But
here's Bubba, a whole year later and still kicking. He's been on so
many medicines over his life, pretty much monthly, something he really
hates but it's helped him reach this age.
And for a while after
Schmidty passed, he was by himself, not getting along with any other
rescues I tried putting with him, until two little dumbo girls came
along, Bam and Cinnamon, who were scheduled to go to home in LA. As it
turned out, they got along with the big man real fine and three have
been togther ever since..
Honestly I have figured Bubba would
have passed on like his brothers before him by this time, if you had bet me six months ago, ANY
amount of money that Bubba would make it 2 and a half years old, I
would have taken the wager in a second.
Cinnamon, Bubba and Bam enjoy some Green Mush on 9/20/09. This stuff they get 2-3 times a week. It's one of the reasons Bubba has lived so long. I highly recommend it.
He
has no use of his back legs. The cage has been taken down, they just
have the cage bottom on top of the table so Bubba doesn't have to go up
any stairs. He drags himself around the table quite fine. He has his
boxes he likes to get in and his treats - right now the most prevalent
treat is the Honeynut Cheerios which all three love.

Mush if you want your pets to live longer (I get nothing from this plug
- I just think the stuff is excellent and want people to use it so
their animals live a long time).
